I am a Coptic Christian

First of all, I want to say that I am Egyptian. I am not Arab. People think Egyptians are Arabs, but this is not true. Arabs are from the Gulf countries. Egyptians are different. We are of a different ethnic background, different blood.

Everyone’s heard of hieroglyphics and everyone knows this was the written language of Egypt back in the day of the Pharoahs. However, this was also the language spoken in Egypt. This was not just a written language. Hieroglyphics then morphed into the Demotic language, then into the Coptic language. Then in the first century A.D. Mark the Evangelist brought Christianity to Egypt. In the 7th Century A.D., Islam (Arabs) came to Egypt, bringing with them the Arabic language, which is the language of Egypt today. The Christians who remained Christian and did not convert to Islam are today called Coptic. The ones who converted to Islam like to be called Arabs, but they’re not. I am Coptic, an original Egyptian.
